Green Friday is a Black Friday alternative: the same peak shopping moment, pointed at the impact of what we buy rather than the size of the discount. For Do Not Wish, Green Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, 2026, and marks the opening of the Do Not Wish Marketplace in private beta.
Black Friday runs on lower prices, short windows, limited quantities, and a flood of competing messages. Those dynamics move inventory, but they make the discount the headline, even when the more important questions are what a purchase changes and what happens to products nobody buys.
They flatten the distinction between a discounted purchase and an impactful one. That distinction shapes how we approach Green Friday: as a moment for awareness, not another seasonal slogan.
Green Friday is a long-standing concept that recenters the attention around Black Friday on ethical consumption. It does not ask you to stop wanting or to stop shopping. It does not abandon desire or its role in culture and commerce. It asks us to think beyond the Green Friday discount and consider what that purchase makes possible.
Green Friday supports brands, makers, retailers, service providers, and the communities built around the products we buy. Importantly, it creates new opportunities for products that already exist across seasons, collections, and cycles of demand to be discovered, desired, and valued again.
Green does not mean that every transaction is automatically sustainable. No color can make that guarantee, and we do not claim it does. For Do Not Wish, Green Friday is a commitment to making the impact behind your purchase more visible and to ensuring that every claim we make follows evidence.
A recovered item may help avoid additional production, or it may simply find a better destination than continued storage or destruction. The impact is not always the same, and we will not present it as though it is. At Do Not Wish, every Green Friday moves the conversation beyond discounts to what your purchase changes.
Shopping Is Not the Problem
You need products: clothing, accessories, makeup, equipment, furniture, electronics, gifts, and objects that express identity. Brands need revenue. And the environment benefits when more of what already exists stays in use.
A credible alternative works with those realities. Green Friday does not ask you to separate desire from discount shopping. It asks you to consider what happens beyond the discount when you make a purchase. A purchase can move an idle product into use, make repair economically viable, give an existing product another route to market, or create demand for the parts and services that extend product life.
Green Friday does not trade the pleasure of shopping for responsibility. It keeps the experience, keeps the discount, and brings the impact of your purchase into view.
Context does not punish desire. It gives it a better reason.
Green Friday 2026
Green Friday 2026, on Friday, November 27, marks the opening of the Do Not Wish Marketplace in private beta. The Marketplace is a commercial environment where premium discovery, inventory recovery, and impact can coexist.
Do Not Wish is building a shared system where impact can extend across brand-owned inventory, authorized retail partners, qualified independent sellers, and the consumers who ultimately put those products into use.
The private beta makes Green Friday 2026 more than a campaign. Green Friday concentrates our collective participation; the Do Not Wish Marketplace carries that participation forward every day of every year.
How Green Friday Works
For shoppers, Green Friday begins with discovery. Search a category, explore a brand, browse a curated release, and add to cart. Product pages will provide context for why an item is available, alongside relevant product and impact information.
For brands and retailers, participation began earlier. Our approved partners have identified eligible inventory, provided the information needed to represent it accurately, and established pricing and service terms. Those products will become available through the Marketplace, alongside other approaches designed to help existing products retain or recover value. Brands and retailers interested in joining can learn more about the Do Not Wish Partnerships Network.
The goal is not to turn every transaction into a sustainability claim. It is to look beyond a purchase’s monetary value and make its impact visible.
Why Green Friday?
Because Green Friday gives us a moment to look beyond the discount.
It brings together what Do Not Wish is building: a marketplace that helps existing products find new demand, gives you access to premium goods and exceptional deals, and makes the impact behind those purchases easier to understand.
The shopping does not end when Green Friday does. Neither does the impact. The Marketplace carries both forward, every day of every year.
Green Friday as an Annual Event
The Do Not Wish Marketplace enters private beta on Green Friday 2026 with a clear objective: help brands and retailers recover value from existing inventory while giving shoppers exceptional access to premium products and greater visibility into the impact behind their purchases.
Green Friday on Do Not Wish will return every year. It will give us a recurring moment to bring our community limited releases and exceptional offers, draw attention to what already exists, introduce new ways to recover and extend product value, share product and impact updates, and release new impact resources and materials. Follow the Red Series for upcoming updates.
What happens between Green Fridays matters just as much. The Marketplace continues every day, carrying participation, purchases, and impact forward. Each Green Friday gives us a moment to look at that progress, introduce what comes next, and continue building on it.
